The Trinity Crucifix

21 May

altarboy10   Trinity Sunday is  a day to honor the Holy Trinity of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.  Many rosaries have what is known as a Trinity Crucifix.

box9 The Trinity Crucifix has also been called the Budded Crucifix as well as the Apostles’ Crucifix.

street4The term budded is used because the corners of the crucifix resemble flower buds.

Pieta8The crucifix is called the Trinity Crucifix by many because the three parts of every bud represent the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

The same style crucifix has been called the Apostles’ Crucifix because each of the four sections has three buds, a total of twelve, one for each apostle.

Pieta3  Whether it is called the Budded Crucifix, Trinity Crucifix, or Apostles’ Crucifix, this style crucifix with three distinct marks on every corner, adds beauty to a rosary.
