The World Meeting of Families Antique Gold Rosary

14 Feb

AntiqueGold1 As Pope Francis travels the world, we take time to look back on his 2015 visit to the United States and the rosaries that were made to commemorate the World Meeting of Families held during his visit to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  Today we are showing the antique gold rosary made by Ghirelli rosaries.

AntiqueGold3  The crucifix of this rosary shows Jesus with his hands outstretched to families. An image of Pope Francis has been placed at the top of the rosary. His papal crest is at the bottom.

AntiqueGold4 The World Meeting of Families prayer can be found on the reverse of the crucifix. AntiqueGold14AntiqueGold6 The center of the rosary shows the World Meeting of Families Holy Family Portrait.  This portrait shows an extended family, Jesus, Mary, and Joseph as well as Mary’s parents, St. Ann and St. Joachim.  The reverse of the center shows the Liberty Bell logo of the 2015 World Meeting of Families. AntiqueGold2 The box containing the rosary shows the official portrait in full color. AntiqueGold8 The rosary has a bar showing that it is made by Ghirelli, the company which supplies the rosaries which Pope Francis distributes as his special gifts.

To learn more about rosaries, read The Rosary Collector’s Guide by Gloria Brady Hoffner and Helen Hoffner.  This 152 page hardcover reference book, published by Schiffer Publishing, has over 200 color photographs of rosaries, crosses, crucifixes, and center medals ranging from those owned by England’s King Henry VIII to those honoring Pope Francis.  The Rosary Collector’s Guide is available at Barnes and Noble, the Catholic Faith Store Online, Amazon, and other book stores, religious article stores, and online sites.

Love the Ghirelli rosaries you have shown recently. Wish the Obama rosary was available to general public.

I agree that the story of President Obama’s rosary is very interesting. I wish the newspapers would give us a close-up picture of that rosary.
